Richard McGuire is a writer and photographer based in Ottawa, Canada. He specializes in photography, travel, technology and politics.

His travel images have been published internationally, appearing in magazines, travel guides, text books, newspapers and websites. Clients have included Outside magazine and Toyota, as well as many smaller specialty publications. In his youth, McGuire backpacked around the globe for several years, and he continues to travel in North America and Latin America whenever possible.

After starting his journalism career at several Canadian community newspapers, McGuire launched a monthly publication about personal computers in 1984 called INPUT. It caught the early wave of the computer revolution, and soon reached a cross-Canada distribution of 35,000 copies monthly.

Since 1997, McGuire has worked on Parliament Hill in Ottawa for several high-profile Members of Parliament, including David Kilgour, Murray Calder and Mark Holland. After working in the Liberal Research Bureau under Stéphane Dion's leadership, he was one of very few to survive the transition to the leadership of Michael Ignatieff. Since the May 2011 election debacle for the Liberals, McGuire has left politics to concentrate on writing and photography.
